Training
I hit a little bit of a dip there for a little while. I was allowing my students to bring me down because they were not understanding the material, then I started to ask whether or not they were doing their homework, and to my suprise the one's that did not do their homework did not get the material. The one's that did their homework understood the material. At my school, homework because it is a formative assessment (Where students are forming their knowledge of a concept) we are not allowed to put homework towards their final grade. This translates to students as homework doesn't count. I would have excelled at this school. Because what dragged my grades down in high school was homework. But now I am starting to have some fun with it. I have made it so that if you want to retake a test you have to turn in all of the homework for the chapter. It is funny when they tell me, "Do you know how much work that is?" Uh yeah I do, that is why I assigned it.
The state tournament went well. Took second because I could not finish my moves in the third round. It was not because I was tired it was because I was not thinking. I mean there I am in the state finals all I have to do is this one thing and I have a gold medal and I just make mistake after mistake. Oh well still qualified for the national tournament where they pick the world team. Next year that tournament picks the people that go to the Olympics. Which hey I could use a trip to Beijing, I mean all I would have to do is be one of seven people in the nation to win the national tournament. It is only like two hundred of the nations top wrestlers, nothing that big. I hear they give those spots away. I mean who would want to go to the Olympics, stand at the top of the medal podium watch as they raise your nation's flag and play your national anthem. No big deal.
Bought my tickets for spring break. Going to visit Brooke in Alaska. It will be nice to get away and be around young people. At least they are in college. A bit too young but that is not what some people are telling me. 21 seems awful young. Hmm but an athlete none the less, which would be different. Having something in common with the people around me would be a nice change. Things to ponder.
